There was Edgy Girls Only Cosmetics.

It began with Lipstick and Wet Gloss.

The Wet Gloss was exactly what it sounds like — wet.

Alongside it were lipsticks with names I chose myself, inspired by things I loved, moments in my life, and colors that stayed with me.

There were matte lipsticks.
Some had shimmer.
Some leaned iridescent.

The Wet Glosses carried those same tones, including classic, shimmer, and iridescent finishes.

Everything was handmade.

THE BEGINNING

Where Edgy Girls Only first took shape, one color at a time.

I officially launched the line in 2015, but I started mixing in 2014 — from the coffee table in my one-bedroom apartment living room.

At the time, I worked with five vendors, sourcing micas, pigments, shea butters, waxes, and base ingredients.

I found my first lipstick mold on Amazon, which back then was hard to come by. DIY cosmetic supplies weren’t common yet, especially for cosmetics.

For nearly a year, I used the same small three-tube plastic mold.

Eventually, I found a real lipstick mold on eBay, along with measuring cups, double boilers, and other tools I could repurpose all for about the cost of a single new mold at the time.

Back then, a 12-tube lipstick mold cost around $379.

That was about the same price as my rent.

I created close to 80 lipstick shades, eventually narrowing them down to 22 lipsticks, paired with 12 Wet Glosses that were sold during that time.

They were my babies.
I loved them deeply.
And I thought I would go much further with them.

Cosmetics Lookbook

After about two years, I realized my heart wasn’t in it anymore.

The last time I mixed — including one shade that never made it to market I experienced a very traumatic night.

That was the last time I ever made cosmetics.

I didn’t announce that I was stopping.
I didn’t explain.

I left the website up and continued paying for it for years, even though I wasn’t selling anything or making anything anymore.

I kept everything.
I still have it all.

I hosted a few lipstick and Wet Gloss parties after that, teaching others how to make them, but I never returned to creating them for sale.

Every time I tried, it brought me back to a moment in my life that was hard to hold — one I’ve never fully shared.

Walking away had nothing to do with the products themselves.
It had everything to do with needing to feel safe enough to breathe.

I don’t know if I’ll ever return to that door.

If I do, it would look different.

Today, the hair care line is produced in a lab using my formulas, rather than being mixed by me personally.

If I ever chose to revisit lipstick or Wet Gloss, it would likely follow that same path — but I’m not yet at the place where I want to open that door.
